SHAME ON CLARK COUNTY CITIZENS FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE

Shame on Bryan Wray and the Facebook group Clark Co Citizens for Good Governance for bashing Robert Dean in a private message while restricting his public comments to the group.

Sorry folks, this is Madore-esque behavior.

I'm cc'ng Chuck Green of C3G2, a voice for openness, to forward this post on O Vancouvria! to Bryan Wray.

  1. One clarification. Bryan's message did come to me privately but he cc'd it to others - his message was public.

  2. This was the message (with some format changes).

    6/30/2014 Message from “Facebook User.”

I think it might be wise for you to realize who ACTUALLY runs, moderates and started the C3G2 page. I'll give you a clue, it's not Chuck. It's not Ron. It's not Mike Briggs. It is, in fact, me.

So when you send me comments about how you consider Chuck Green a friend and then one month later you bash him and call his character into question using as many public forums as possible, it's not Chuck weeding you out.

And when you call our group the MDS group, it's not Ron that deletes your request, it's me. In fact, at every turn, I've said that you aren't worth the time of day for arguing and debating with. When Chuck suggests that you might be a "balancing" voice, I ignore his words and delete your request. And then I just sit back and wait for you to prove just how right I am, as you have over the past 2-3 weeks.

How sad and lonely, that you have to jump on a computer any time any public official in Clark County has something to say. You either wholeheartedly agree or wholeheartedly disagree. You spend hours and hours debating them and providing all of these links and polls and statistics. We feel bad for you. We really do. But that doesn't mean that your crazy holds a candle of truth.

I use you as an example of how I don't ever want to let my free time be completely monopolized by something that I ultimately have no control over. I mean, I literally gauge whether or not I'm spending too much time on the internet debating dumb political things that I have no influence over... I base it around your level of involvement. Because I swear, the day that I involve myself in a political ring 2500+ miles away, that's the day I have truly lost all hope of ever having meaningful impact in my *actual* surroundings.

Me. Dean, I truly hope that at some point in your life you can find some sort of happiness and importance. Until then, I know you'll continue to bash our group (because we won't let you play in our treehouse), and I know you'll continue to argue with anyone that will give you the time of day. I know you'll probably start to try to slander me now, because I've finally made myself a target. But at the end of the day, just once... Look in the mirror and gauge whether or not what your doing actually has ANY bearing on anything here. Because I'll promise you, of the 500-600 customers I'll serve tomorrow, none of them will know you. And despite that fact, how many hours will you spend on our political ring this week? 5? 10? 20? And for what? For nothing!

I want you to know that I don't hate you. Not by a long shot. And you're absolutely entitled to say whatever you want. It's the internet. That's what it's for. But honestly, truly... Please understand that Clark County has no idea who Robert Dean is. And they don't want to. I wholeheartedly believe your time would be better spent impacting your local community.

  3. Another clarification: Although Chuck is a friend I have criticized his actions publicly but I have never bashed him or called his character into question.

  4. Another clarification: The MDS group Bryan refers to is Clark County Citizens for Good Governance; a misnomer to be sure and given the acronym C3G2. MDS refers to this: You might have Madore Derangement Syndrome if:
    1) You believe free parks will lead to desecration of our recreational facilities by hoards of marauding citizens.
    2) You argue that incentives to businesses to locate and expand in Clark County are counter-productive and will only lead to bankruptcy.
    3) You think that the Executive Board of Clark County is not supposed to directly appoint department heads, like Don Benton.
    4) You are convinced that the resignations of several prominent Clark County employees signaled the triumph of principled self-sacrifice over the usual pursuit of personal agendas through public sector employment.
    5) You applaud Steve Stuart for moving to a position of greater influence rather than languish as a minority member of the BOCC.
    6) You know that C-Tran acted with boldness and integrity when they hurriedly signed the secret pact with TriMet to operate its MAX train on Clark County soil despite the resounding defeat of the plan by C-Tran voters.
    7) You aver that every agency manager, like Jeff Hamm, Eric Holmes, and the proposed new Home Rule Charter administrator, should have the power to act swiftly and decisively regardless of prior direction from the voter-selected board that hired him.
    8) You maintain that when the voters say NO they mean MAYBE NEXT TIME.
    9) You support Tim Leavitt’s engineering career aspirations and hope that he gets a nice position with TriMet one day.
    10) You appreciate the even-handed journalism of the Columbian newspaper.

Please, go ahead and say something - let me and others know what you think, how you feel, what should be done...what I didn't say, should have said...or how shrill I am/not shrill enough. Be assertive here.
