Cheers and Jeers Wednesday

Cheers to Vancouver City Council for giving City Manager Eric Holmes, who IS GREAT at his job, a 17% raise. Cheers also to Holmes for pushing Council to do so - carrots and sticks, I tell ya.

Jeers if Council gives that pay increase to Eric's successor WITHOUT A TRIAL PERIOD FIRST. Remember, Tacoma's City Manager is horrible - which is why the City of Destiny votes on a "strong mayor" government this fall.

Cheers to Governor Inslee, in his interview with Lou Brancaccio at The Columbian, for telling us that "Commissioner Madore is smoking crack" (referring to Madore's idea to install a bridge for $5M at SE 192nd Ave over the Columbia to Portland w/o multi-agency/state/federal approval).

Jeers to Governor Inslee for telling us that Senator Ann Rivers (proponent of a bridge solution that relieves truck traffic, our main problem, on I-5, while avoiding Metro Portland's nasty little light-rail problem) is "whistling in the wind". Senator Rivers has got more support lined up than I think any of the powers-that-be at 1300 Franklin or in Olympia realize.

Cheers to Chuck Green, C-Tran's BRT planner, for answering all my concerns quickly and timely about BRT transfers to a MAX shuttle downtown - the wait time for BRT downtown from the MAX shuttle will be LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES.

Jeers to Chuck Green IF it takes me LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES to get from Delta Park MAX to downtown-adjacent neighborhoods (including Clark College) on said BRT - I voted "bus rapid transit" for a reason. Its supposed to be faster than the current 4 bus.

Please, go ahead and say something - let me and others know what you think, how you feel, what should be done...what I didn't say, should have said...or how shrill I am/not shrill enough. Be assertive here.
