Just saw Tesoro gave WA politicians nearly $ 28 k in the 2012 election cycle.

But anyways I suppose none of it matters. I heard from an inside archconservative local source that the state GOP is dumping Benton in favor of a more electable candidate. Benton is said to be  okay with it though, he gets to keep both the state and county pensions... better to enjoy his vacation home in Baja California I suppose.

Lew, Why So Shy?

In my VERY SHORT second post today, I wanna ask Lew Waters WHY his blog site is password-restricted (you have to contat Lew for the password). 

So Lew - there's my ask. Why are you so shy about people reading what you write, especially since I can just Google a topic of my fancy and read what you wrote on your site (you knew that, right)? 

Its not that I want to read what you're writing, but I am curious - especially since I've got nothing to hide on my views here. C'mon...step out into the sunshine for me?

Not shy, just blocking out the Ron Paul Republican Liberty Caucus idiots that have been smearing me the last week or two because I exposed that email Christian Berrigan sent out to selected people to show them how to create a scene where their opponent would withdraw and demanding it be kept secret.

Seems like the Ron Paul peoples have gone off the deep end. On the other hand, I 

don't mind the conservative folks in Clark County eating eachother like so many 

momma guppies - though I feel bad for Lew, and think local politics is getting way 

too personal (apparently "carp fileting" was mentioned by said folks).


Lew will reopen when said Ron Paul folks come out of hiding and face him like a 

man. I say more power to Lew.

Tuesday Short Post - District 3 County Commission Race (Vancouver's Seat)

Was tootling around the Public Disclosure Commission's site just now (trying to find who was donating what to People for Tesoro Savage) and noticed some interesting tidbits about the District 3 Co. Commissioner race. 

Namely, the most interesting thing about the race is why a person who (I don't think) is running, Steve Stuart (now City Manager at Ridgefield) has raised $7800 in campaign funds for said race (according to the PDC). I'm assuming that he's given the donations back? 

The other tidbit is the GOP candidate - Jeanne Stewart. Yes, THAT Jeanne Stewart - the one "gaveled down" by Councilmember Jeanne Harris during her public comment time at a Vancouver City Council meeting (for which Lew Waters is busy dragging her, and that lovely moment, out of the grave in his recent posts). 

Stewart, basically a conservative's conservative (and beloved by said folk in Clark County) is pretty much a non-starter with voters here in District 3. Remember, said district includes all voters in the Couv WEST of 205/136th SE, with a small slice of Hazel Dell. This is a district that went 61% for Dem state rep Jim Moeller in the last election.

Nor has Stewart raised much money - $5K as opposed to $11,800 for Craig Pridemore, her Dem opponent. The PDC strangely enough didn't list any funds for the other two possible candidates, including Ed Barnes (the most likely one to run against Pridemore in a primary). 

Unless Madore & Mielke are going to fatten Stewart with a cash infusion post-primary, my guess is that Pridemore will have an easy time of it (provided he's not in any sort of primary challenge). Having said that, I do wonder if M&M are setting Stewart up as a stalking horse to draw votes off, with a more conservative-than-Pridemore indie candidate waiting in the wings til fall to announce.

thank you Kevin. so then my question to you folks at the City of Vancouver ( who are on this email thread) how difficult is it to get a crew from Mabry to come cut the blackberries back of the West mill plain Boulevard sidewalk?

I would be more than happy to take my weed wacker down there if I could be assured of payments from the city to my landscaping business for doing so.

blackberries may not being noxious weeds, but they need to be kept koff the sidewalks of busy city streets.

I'm sorry if I wasn't as clear as I could have been in my response, but blackberries, both Himalayan and Evergreen, are Class C noxious weeds and are not designated for control anywhere in the state of Washington.

I have nothing to say about this particular piece of drivel junk mail, except to note that the final decision on Tesoro savages oil by rail terminal does not rest in the hands of Vancouver City Council, as noted in prior posts on this topic.

Rather, the final decision on whether we have oil by rail is actually in the hands of Governor Inslee and his staff, who are likely, as insiders in Olympia indicate, to veto the oil by rail terminal.

giving waste management and Don Benton spent 55 thousand dollars to promote his accomplishments as director of environmental services at County, I assume the oil people spent the same.

just to be sure, I will check with the public disclosure condition in Olympia to find out. Also I want to see too who is donating money to "people for tesoro", the name of this particular citizens group.

I am CC'ing the Vancouver City Council on this post 200 them to stand strong and vote no on oil by rail. I also urge tesoro to calm down.
